How GotTheBill earns revenue

GotTheBill is free to use. Here is exactly how we make money, what that means for the deals we show, and what we never do.

The short version

When you click through to a provider from GotTheBill and complete a switch or sign up, that provider pays us a commission. This comes from their marketing budget and does not affect the price you pay. Providers cannot pay to appear higher in our comparisons or to be recommended over others.

How it works

The process step by step

1

You compare deals on GotTheBill

Free to browse. No account needed. No personal details required to see deals.

2

You click through to a provider

We use tracked affiliate links so the provider knows the visit came from GotTheBill. This is standard practice across comparison sites.

3

You sign up or switch

If you complete a purchase or switch, the provider pays us a commission. If you do not switch, we earn nothing. No commission is earned simply from you visiting a provider's site.

4

The price you pay is unaffected

The commission comes from the provider's marketing budget. You pay exactly the same price whether you go directly to the provider or through GotTheBill.

Our editorial standards

What this means for our recommendations

What we do

  • Show deals based on value and relevance
  • Give honest opinions on which deals are worth it
  • Tell you when a deal has caveats or price rises built in
  • Only feature providers we are comfortable recommending
  • Be transparent about how we earn money

What we do not do

  • Allow providers to pay for higher placement
  • Add hidden fees or charges to deals
  • Sell your personal data to third parties
  • Feature providers we would not use ourselves
Our partner network

Which providers do we compare?

We compare providers from our affiliate partner network. This means not every provider in the UK or Australia is included in our comparisons. We work with affiliate networks in the UK and Australia to access partner programmes from energy suppliers, broadband providers, mobile networks, and solar installers.

If a provider is not featured in our comparison, it does not mean they are a bad option. It means we do not currently have an affiliate relationship with them. We only feature providers we are satisfied recommending. If a provider's terms, pricing transparency, or customer service record gives us concerns, we do not feature them regardless of what they would pay us.

For solar lead generation, we operate a direct lead generation model where installers pay per qualified lead. This is separate from affiliate commission and operates under the same editorial principles: we recommend the right installer for the customer, not the installer who pays the most per lead.

FAQ

Questions about how we work

We only compare providers we have an affiliate partnership with. If a provider is not featured, it means we do not currently have a relationship with them, not that they are a bad option. We are always expanding our partner network.

No. We do not sell personal data to third parties. See our privacy policy for full details on how we handle your data.
